Jeanneau 410 Sun Odyssey March 26-27, 2025
We had co-operative weather and a roomy boat. And from there ..it just kept getting better. Six of us on board a Jeanneau 410 for 6 hours, skippered by "Captain Daniel" who gave up the helm to to all that were anxious to sail. Racers were out beyond the inlet (The turbulence and shallows is commonly referred to as the 'washing machine' ) And while we can technically say "we sailed in the ocean", the winds and gust were too severe to stay out. But the Inland Waterway sailing was plenty challenging. We sailed along the shore of Old Town St Augustine ... great views of the Fort. Then we headed north against the wind. The captain masterfully trimmed sails, drop then hoist... Jim took the helm for much of our sail, Susan jumped in to help winch the jib. Captain Daniel worked continuously, guiding and telling local tales. We were in layers, and comfortable until late afternoon which required yet another layer... wind and sun, no clouds. Day before was spent in Old Town. We had dinner with Leon and Diana that night. Saw sunset at our marina condos. And sunrise from Velano Bearh.

Sail yesterday was GREAT! We all had a great time, Captain Dan was exceptional and we all tipped him extra when we returned. Leon and I were the only ones that wanted to stay out on the ocean longer so we headed back in, but Dan was fine with whatever we wanted, let us all have the helm as long as we wanted. Leon and I did most of the winch work with help from Dan when needed. GREAT EXPERIENCE!
